Big in the Netherlands!
Last week I was interviewed by NOS, the Dutch national news channel on - what else - Brexit. The subject of the report was the capacity of the UK government to deal with the Article 50 negotiations. The correspondent, Tim De Wit, had picked up on reports that consultants would be charging the Government 5 grand a day! Nice work if you can get it. My view was, and is, that the negotiations must be run by the Government supported by the Civil Service in the national interest, drawing on private expertise where necessary. As I pointed out in my comments the fees advisers can charge are very high, though in some cases they will absolutely be worth paying. In the longer term, there is no replacement for well trained public servants. With aid of Google Translate you can see the piece here.
